n conjunction with their 2009 All Star Game the National Hockey League, the NHL Players Association and Montreal Canadiens decided to leave a legacy gift to the children of Montreal. The inaugural Lion’s Den Room in Canada opened at the Sainte-Justine University Children’s Hospital on Friday, January 23rd.

Pat LaFontaine welcomed NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, Executive Director of the NHLPA Paul Kelly, President of the Canadiens Pierre Boivin, NHL All Stars Vincent Lecavalier, Alex Kovalev, Mike Komisarek, Luke Schenn, Steven Stamkos and Hall of Famers Clark Gillies and Jim Gregory to the opening. Patients based in the Lion’s Den room at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in New York welcomed their new friends to the network during a live WebEx video conference session during the opening ceremony.

The room features walls and fixtures made of DuPont’s Corian and has three XBox 360 stations, four PCs, a Video Conference pod and a flat panel TV. Microsoft also donated four mobile XBox 360 kiosks to wheel to the bedsides of children who are too ill to visit the Lion’s Den.
